Biggleswade Beer Options Recommended For 2022

6th December 2021 posted in BUYERS TENANTS

At Country Properties in Biggleswade, we like many things in life and the local area. We enjoy helping people in the property market, but we also want to see local businesses thrive, and we love socialising with friends and family members.

For the benefits of the property market, these things aren’t separate. Issues such as good local bars or pleasant streets influence what people think about a regional area, which impacts demand for local property.

Bars and shops make an area more attractive to prospective buyers

The presence of a good bar might not be the deciding factor for prospective buyers when looking to move to a new area, but when schools, transport and shops are taken care of, it is natural people will look for a social venue that ensures they can relax and have some fun.

At Country Properties, we are delighted to see Biggleswade bars listed in the latest edition of The Good Beer Guide, published by CAMRA. This edition came out on November 12th 2021, and if you’re keen to sample the delights of the best pubs in the country next year, this guide will see you right.

CAMRA National Chairman Nik Antona said: “After the struggles of the past 18 months for the industry, it is great that The Good Beer Guide figures are showing the resilience of pubs and brewers in the face of strife – a national increase in brewery numbers after they dipped last year for the first time, as well as over 500 new pub entries. This is great to see, especially coupled with the news from the Government’s latest Budget, including the announcement of a new, lower rate of duty for draught beer and cider.”

Nik Antona also said; “However, the industry is still vulnerable in the aftermath of Covid-19 lockdowns. Breweries still face issues around costs of goods, lack of business rate relief and silence from the Government on Small Brewers’ Relief reform. We are calling on the Government to make sure the new draught duty rate applies to containers 20L and up so that all our small and independent brewers can benefit.”

There is no denying that many pubs, and the entire hospitality sector, has struggled in recent times, so we are delighted to see local pubs receive considerable praise. When you think that the guide considers more than 4,500 pubs across the United Kingdom, Biggleswade can be proud to have entrants in the guide.

Whether you are a local looking for the best pint or keen to see local businesses recommended to the world, it can only be good news for these bars and the community to receive this recognition.

Do you drink in these Biggleswade bars?

The Biggleswade bars named in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide are:

1.       The Golden Pheasant, High Street, Biggleswade

2.       The Wheatsheaf, Lawrence Road, Biggleswade

These pubs date back to the 1870s, with The Golden Pheasant dating back to 1876 and The Wheatsheaf having history reaching back to 1873. There is a strong sense of history in both options, not to mention a fine collection of beer, cider and food.

2022 can be greener in Biggleswade

At Country Properties, we are always looking for ways to support our community better. The strength of the community often lies in the minor things, such as the warm welcome you’ll receive in one of the listed pubs or how pleasant local streets look.

As part of our 2022 plans to support the local community, we promise to plant trees for every instruction we receive.

There are many reasons why it is a great idea to plant trees in town and city areas, including:

1.       Urban trees are getting older, reaching the end of their life cycle

2.       Trees provide a home and familiarity to local wildlife

3.       Trees absorb a considerable amount of water, lowering the risk of flooding in many areas

4.       Trees brighten up an area, making streets look more appealing

5.       Development work and urban sprawl removes a lot of nature; planting trees will redress some of the balance

These are just some of the reasons we are committed to planting trees in our community, and we want Biggleswade to prosper and flourish.
