The highly experienced team at Melbourn are led by our branch owner, John Redman, who is an experienced and qualified professional and has been working in the local area for the past 13 years. The Melbourn team prides itself in in offering excellent customer service.

Our property management team, led by lettings manager, Sophie Wesley, are based in Melbourn and provide full landlord services covering South Cambridgeshire, North Hertfordshire and Central Bedfordshire.

    Susan Redman

    Lettings Director

    Susan is our expert in property management and takes care of all of our tenancies. It is vitally important that we earn the trust of our landlords in looking after their properties and also ensure an excellent service to tenants. Being a landlord can be an administrative and legal minefield. We advise on all aspects of letting and provide landlords with a safe and legal management service.

    Sophie Wesley

    Lettings Manager

    Sophie joined Country Properties after leaving Stratton Sixth Form in June 2012. Her position in the company was as an office junior and she was also completing her NVQ in Customer Service whilst gaining experience within the branch. Sophie has taken on many roles since starting and with the good training from Country Properties she has now been promoted to the position of Lettings Manager. She is a very mature employee that always goes that extra mile to give landlords and tenants a good experience whilst dealing with Country Properties. Sophie has also completed her Level 3 Diploma in Residential Property Letting and Management Services and as such is a now a qualified member of ARLA.

    Lettings Negotiator

    Sophie Shaw Lettings Negotiator Sophie has worked in our Lettings team for since 2016 after working in our Sales team previously. Local to the area, she is an honest and hardworking member of the team who specialises in lease renewals and property inventories. Sophie is currently working towards her Level 3 Diploma in Residential Property Letting and Management Services with the goal of becoming a qualified member of ARLA.

    Lettings Assistant

    Alison has worked part time in our Lettings team since moving from our Baldock sales office in December 2017 and is a dedicated and diligent member of staff. Most of her time is spent carrying out property visits checking on the condition of our landlords’ properties and ensuring our landlords remain compliant with statutory legislation.

    Kirsty has worked for Country Properties since 2016 and is a hard working Sales Negotiator with an honest, friendly personality and a high level of integrity. Kirsty will look after buyers with their viewings requirements and then negotiate an agreed price with all parties before looking after the sale through to a successful completion.

    Tracey has worked for Country Properties for many years and has been at the Royston branch since 2012. Tracey's responsibilities and skills are in both valuing properties and in sales negotiation. Tracey's friendly personality puts her clients at ease from the start and she continues to provide excellent customer service throughout their experience with Country Properties.

Local area guide

Situated in South Cambridgeshire, Melbourn is just 2 miles north of Royston, 10 miles south of Cambridge and is right by the A10. It has always been a busy, thriving village and has remained extremely popular with buyers and tenants alike.

Whilst supporting a number of new build properties, the village still retains some of its old charm and many period properties can be found, especially around the village centre. On the outskirts of Melbourn you will find industrial areas and notably, the Science Park at the northern end of the village. The businesses here, which include AstraZeneca , not only provide employment for local residents, but commuters from outside the village also.

Being in such a prime position, with easy access to train stations in neighbouring Meldreth and Royston and bus routes, it is a popular location for commuters to Cambridge and London.  That said, it is far from it being just a ‘commuter’ village. With the ever popular Sheene Mill, the Community Hub, two pubs and lots of other local businesses operating within the centre of the village, there is always something going on in Melbourn!

Education is provided by both the Primary School and the Village College which have excellent reputations in the local area and remain a key selling point for people looking to move to Melbourn and the surrounding villages.
