Welwyn Garden City local area and living guide
Welwyn Garden City is a town in Hertfordshire with a population of over 45,000 located just off junction 4 of the A1(M), making London King’s Cross a mere 20 miles away. Bus and train timetables provide good public transport links to London (30 minutes away), Stevenage, Luton, and surrounding town and villages.
Welwyn Garden City was the second garden city that was built in 1920 after the success of Letchworth Garden City that became a reality due to Sir Ebenezer Howard’s garden city movement due to his publication ‘To-morrow: A Peaceful Path to Real Reform’.
The town provides many amenities as expected in such a large town along with The Gosling Sports Centre with a 50 acre site offering a range of sport facilities including skiing, tennis and golf. Our Welwyn Garden City branch was opened in February 1989, making it the longest established independent agent in the Garden City. The office is centrally placed within yards of the Howard Centre, John Lewis and the station with considerable car park spaces.
