Royston local area and living guide

Royston is a town located in the very far north of Hertfordshire with a population on nearly 16,000 people. The town has had considerable investment to improve the railway crossing which is part of the line travelling from London to Cambridge, making commuting a viable option for those looking to move to the area.

The area is steeped in history, one attraction being the Royston Cave that was discovered in 1742 and has its own museum opened in 1984. In 2007 the Royston Arts festival was revived after a 9 year break having originally been held in 1982 for the first time.

The festival is now home to sell out workshops and well attended by known artists in drama, music and writing. Royston’s market is held each Wednesday and Saturday which adds to the many shops and amenities found in the town.
