Melbourn local area and living guide
Melbourn is a village with a population of over 4,400 people located in the south-west of Cambridgeshire. Found 10 miles from Cambridge and 2 miles from Royston and can be found by road just east of the A10 bypass and a train station is at the nearby village Meldreth.
Melbourn is a popular village for those looking for a lively village community with its own schools and college. Further education is available at Meridian 6th form and other various colleges in the surrounding area. Other local amenities are well provided for with a doctor’s surgery, a library and many clubs for hobbies and interests.
The village, like many others throughout England, was once a haven for thatch roofed cottages. Many of these properties can still found but there were numerous fires in the early 20th century that meant these stunning buildings were lost.
