Hitchin Is A Great Place To Live In 2022

18th January 2022 posted in BUYERS TENANTS

If you are taking the start of the New Year as the ideal time to re-evaluate your life, it might be you decide to move home soon. If you are looking to move home, there is a lot to consider, but you need to know that you find a place where you can settle down.

No matter what is important to you, there is a good chance that Hitchin has a lot to offer. At Country Properties, we believe Hitchin is a great place to live in 2022, and beyond.

The market town has a centre that is a hub of local life, even in these trying times. If you are looking for a community where you feel at home, this is going to be a place where you instantly feel as though you belong.

If you are looking for attractions to keep yourself and your loved ones busy, you have lots on your doorstep. You have the British Schools Museum, the North Hertfordshire Museum and even Hitchin Lavender, which is one of the most beautiful destinations you are likely to find across the country.

Hitchin has a lot of green space

There is no denying buyer behaviour has changed in recent times, and green space is essential for buyers. Thankfully, there are many excellent open space locations in and around Hitchin.

Windmill Hill provides stunning views of the town centre, and many residents consider the location to be a fantastic picnic spot. There is also Bancroft Gardens, which is a hive of activity, with so much on offer including tennis clubs, bowling greens, basketball courts, splash parks, an area for children to play and even a bandstand.

You can stay active in Hitchin

If you're into fitness, there are a selection of running clubs with early morning jogging for the brave and keen.

As well as the number of gyms and leisure centres, there are running clubs, and of course, Hitchin is well known for having two indoor pools, and an outdoor pool. The outdoor pool is only open during the summer months, but there is a chance that the pool might be open for longer.

There is a petition in place to extend the swimming season, and there will be a debate at a council meeting in late January 2022.

How are Hitchin house prices faring in 2022?

At the start of 2022, according to Rightmove, the Hitchin housing market can be described as follows:

Properties in Hitchin had an overall average price of £473,834 over the last year.

The majority of sales in Hitchin during the last year were semi-detached properties, selling for an average price of £538,473. Terraced properties sold for an average of £410,681, with flats fetching £261,288.

Overall, sold prices in Hitchin over the last year were 6% up on the previous year and 14% up on the 2018 peak of £415,756.”

As you can see, there has been a modest rise in prices in Hitchin over the past 12 months. This shouldn’t be a surprise. House prices have generally risen across the country.

There are many reasons for this, with one of the key factors being the demand for property. There is a greater level of demand than the number of homes being supplied to the market, and this tends to see house prices rising.

If you are looking to sell your Hitchin home, we are more than happy to assist you. We are pleased to say we have helped to connect many buyers and vendors, and we look forward to helping you.
