While no one is claiming that we are remotely back to normal, it has been welcoming to see signs of life in and around Baldock. This has been an extremely challenging time for all of us, so anything which suggests we can move forward is hugely positive.
At Country Properties, we are delighted to see the venues which bring people together in and around Baldock re-opening and helping people to reconnect with friends and loved ones.
North Herts District Councillor Michael Muir spoke to The Comet, saying; “It's great to see businesses reopening, it's been a tough year and I understand some landlords have been easier on people than others. We should be sensible as COVID is still around. I am fearful that if we get another lockdown later in the year it will be disastrous for everyone.”
The Three Horseshoes is ready to welcome you
One local bar that has been positively welcomed back is the Three Horseshoes, located at 74 High St, Hinxworth, Baldock SG7 5HQ. Their Facebook page has all their opening details, so you can stay in touch with when they are open.
They’ve also been posting updates of the cocktails they have on offer, and if that doesn’t get you planning a day out, who knows what will!
Tylers of Baldock gained new followers during lockdown
It is no surprise to see some Baldock businesses engaging technology in these challenging times. A local barber shop, Tylers of Baldock, has launched an app, making it easier for clients to book their next appointment.
Premises that used to encourage “walk-in clients” have had to shift how they engage their audience, and it is great to see local businesses react in a positive manner. The staff members were also active during the lockdown, creating video content which showed people how to cut hair!
There were a lot of untamed manes during the various lockdowns, and help was needed! While most people would have been happy to wait for their favourite barber or hairdresser to re-open, this wasn’t always possible. Therefore, these video tutorials might have made lockdown life more manageable for some people.
Tyler Dungey spoke to The Comet about these lockdown videos, and the business in general. Tyler said; “It just went off. I had people in Germany contacting me. What was great was getting people booking who I've never met before. It was hard during lockdown. We've got four boys at home and my partner works at Lister on the COVID wards. We've never had this starting and stopping again before, I've never been out of work.”
The barbershop is also continuing to offer a 10% discount to all NHS staff. Tyler said; “I want to thank all the NHS staff. If it wasn't for them, we probably wouldn't be out enjoying our haircuts today.”
